En route from Cape of Good Hope to Thailand, the French ship L’Oiseau, under the command of Admiral Duquesne-Guitton … sighted the coast of “Terre de la Concorde” (New Holland) near the Swan River … A Good description of the coast near Fremantle was noted in a journal of one of the passengers.

[This information was] recently unearthed through extensive research in French archives by historians Philippe Godard and Charles Bouvier.
